It was extremely stressful and confusing. I have bought 6 homes over my life and built 2 and am in the best financial position of my life. I feel I have been treated like a lower class, uneducated, useless retired person who may I remind you doesn't qualify for a $260,000, but I own a $2 million dollar home and a motor home as well as a landscaping business that has been owned and operated by my husband and I since 1992. We were treated like the landscaping company was not a valid business. Their decision on whether to loan us the money was based on an accountant who was brought in after our accountant retired without finishing our taxes and the new person didn't file right or on time, but was the one who determined whether I could take $10,000 out of the account without ruining the business. This is not personal, but this experience was more stress than I have ever dealt with before and the emailing of what I needed to do each day was very confusing and kept overlapping what I had been asked to do before which made me think I hadn't done what was needed. We got the loan approved the day before we were going to switch to another company that we were talking to and the rate was better, but I didn't want to start a new application then day before this one went through. My overall thoughts are this. We have worked hard and run a thriving business, paid for kids to go to college, bought and sold houses, and are more financially stable than ever before in our lives and want a townhome to visit family in Arizona, and I can't for the life of me figure out why we were treated like we were. It's not fair and it is sad.
